On January 2, 2005, Bishop McDevitt's refurbished gym was dedicated to the memory of Ryan McGinty, a sophomore football-basketball player who died in April 2003 after a heroic fight against Large T-Cell Lymphoma. Ryan's family, via the Ryan McGinty Memorial Foundation, raised funds in excess of $170,000 for improvements to the gym, most notably a brand new hardwood floor that was named the Ryan McGinty court at Bishop McDevitt.
Also, over the last 15 years the McGinty Family donated well over $100,000 in tuition assistance to support student-athletes at Bishop McDevitt High School and St. Cecilia in Fox Chase.
Each October for the last 20 years Ryan's family holds a Beef & Beer fundraiser to support their mission to "enhance young people's lives through education, athletics and the support for Lymphoma Research". This year will be the 20th event and also the last:
