Mark Dianno participated in football, track & field, baseball, and forensics/debate while at Bishop McDevitt.
In football he was a member of the first Lancer football team to win a Catholic League Northern Division regular season title in 1985. Mark was selected All-Catholic two-times. He was voted 1st Team All-Area twice, All-Southeastern PA, and All-City. He was named 2nd Team All-Decade for the City of Philadelphia for the 1980s. In 1985 he was voted the PCL Northern Division League MVP (first time in McDevitt history) and the Montgomery County Player of the Year. In addition, Mark was the inaugural winner of the Maxwell Football Club's Jim Henry Award as the Tri-State High School Player of the Year in 1985.
35 years later he continues to serve and lead the Maxwell Football Club and in 2008 he was appointed Vice-President and General Counsel for the Club. Following the retirement of former Eagles great Ron Jaworski, Mark assumed the role of President and CEO of the Maxwell Football Club in 2017.
On the track Mark completed in high hurdles, long jump, triple jump, and sprint relays where he was a key contributor on Coach Paul Poiesz's championship Track & Field teams, earning 1st Team All-Catholic honors four-times. Mark was also a force on the State scene as well, earing a Bronze Medal in the 55m high hurdles the PA Indoor State Championships in 1984 and a Gold Medal as PA State Champion in the 55m high hurdles in 1985.
Mark and his teammates from the 1985 Championship team began 'The Stretch' which was an unprecedented string of PCL Championships from 1985 to 1992 for the Lancer Boys Track Team. During Mark's time as a member of the McDevitt Track & Field teams, he was a 3-time PCL Champion.
Mark also stepped onto the baseball diamond during his sophomore year and earned Honorable Mention All-Catholic as a catcher.
After graduation Mark continued his education at the University of Pennsylvania where was a four-year letter man and earned All-Ivy League honors in both football and track & field. At UPenn he met his wife Heather who whom he has two children, Jake and Maura. After graduation, Mark attended the University of Pittsburgh Law School and graduated in 1993. Mark currently serves as Associate Deputy General Counsel for Independence Blue Cross.
