Jim Scully was a member of Bishop McDevitt's first graduating class of 1961. He was the President of the Student Council in both his junior and senior years. Jim also lettered in football and track and was the Master of Ceremony in both junior and senior musicals that composed casts of over 100 students. He was the Class of 1961 Salutatorian and then entered the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics in 1965. Subsequently he served on active duty in the US Navy for 2 years.
As Co-chairman of Scully Company, Jim's career of over 50 years encompasses every phase of ownership, financing, development and managing multifamily properties. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Multi-Housing Council. Currently he is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Walnut Street Theatre and the Board of Act II Playhouse. He has also served on the Board of Trustees for the Philadelphia Hospital of Osteopathic Medicine.
Jim produces and composes and scores for musical theater and is currently involved with a team of Broadway theater professionals in New York. His current project is a musical about an icon from the past, Howard Hughes. He also holds a commercial pilot's license and flies his own jet aircraft having accumulated over 5,400 hours as a pilot. He and his wife Marlene live in Ambler, PA and spend time also in Delray Beach Florida.
