The Friends of Bishop McDevitt is pleased to announce that we will be partnering with the Business Leaders Organized for Catholic Schools (BLOCS) to participate in a state tax credit program (EITC) that will help us increase the funding we will have available for scholarships to children and grandchildren of McDevitt graduates.
Currently we have a scholarship program for freshman entering a Catholic High School which is merit based and provides one thousand dollars to the recipients. Our involvement in the EITC tax credit program will significantly increase our resources helping us expand the program and provide both merit based (through cash donations) and need based funding (through the tax credit program) to McDevitt children and grandchildren moving forward.
This program, and our partnership with BLOCS, is very straightforward. The Lancer for Life donor makes a donation to BLOCS and designates it for the McDevitt Alumni program. BLOCS provides proof of the donation, which creates a state tax credit equal to ninety percent of the donation. The McDevitt Alumni Association selects the scholarship recipients and BLOCS sends the appropriate funds to each school.
This tax credit program has been available for almost twenty years and helped many McDevitt students over the years. Now, through this partnership with BLOCS the children and grandchildren of our alumni can benefit.
If you have any questions regarding this program or are considering making a tax deductible donation, please contact Steve Finley ‘69 at stephenfinley113@yahoo.com or reply to this email. Thanks, and we look forward to making this a big success for our kids!
